This Privacy Policy explains how PromptPin (“we,” “our,” “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our services. It applies to both:

Together these are referred to as the “Services.” By using the Services you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the Services.

1. Who we are

PromptPin is an independent publisher of AI image prompts and related educational content, operated from India. Our website address is https://promptpin.in and our contact email is [email protected].

For the purposes of the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation, PromptPin is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

2. Summary of what we collect

We have deliberately built PromptPin to need as little personal information as possible. In particular:

  • The app has no user accounts. You do not register, log in, or give us your name, email address, phone number, or date of birth to use it.
  • We do not ask for your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, precise location, files, or call and SMS data, and the app does not request those permissions.
  • We never sell your personal data to anyone, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising outside the ad partners named in Section 6.

The sections below describe exactly what is collected, by whom, and why.

3. Information collected by the mobile app

3.1 App-generated device identifier

The first time you open the app, it generates a random identifier (a UUID) and stores it on your device. This identifier is sent with requests to our own servers so we can measure how many distinct devices use the app, apply fair-use rate limits, and prevent the same device from repeatedly inflating view counts.

This identifier is created by the app itself. It is not your Android ID, IMEI, MAC address, serial number, or any other permanent hardware identifier, and it is not linked to your Google account. It is not used for advertising. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app, or clearing the app’s storage, permanently discards it and a new unrelated identifier is generated.

3.2 Technical request data

When the app contacts our servers to load prompts, our server records: the IP address the request came from, the app-generated device identifier described above, the app version, the device’s user-agent string, which API endpoint was requested, and the date and time.

We use this only to operate and secure the service — diagnosing errors, detecting abuse and automated scraping, enforcing rate limits, and understanding aggregate usage volume. We do not use it to build advertising or marketing profiles.

3.3 Advertising identifier

The app displays advertisements. Our advertising partners (see Section 6) access your device’s Google Advertising ID, a resettable identifier provided by Android specifically for advertising. Depending on your consent choice and settings, it may be used to select ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance, and detect invalid or fraudulent ad activity.

You are in control of this identifier. See Section 7 for how to reset it or turn off ad personalisation entirely.

3.4 Push notifications

If you allow notifications, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging issues a registration token for your installation of the app so we can send you new-prompt announcements and occasional feature updates. The app subscribes to a general broadcast topic; we do not use notification tokens to identify you personally or to target you individually.

Notifications are optional. You can decline the permission when asked, or turn them off at any time in your device settings under Settings › Apps › PromptPin › Notifications. Turning them off does not affect any other part of the app.

3.5 Data that never leaves your device

Your saved or favourited prompts, your unlocked-prompt history, and your in-app preferences are stored only in the app’s local storage on your own device. They are not uploaded to our servers and we cannot see them. Uninstalling the app deletes them permanently.

3.6 Device integrity checks

To protect the service from tampering and automated abuse, the app may check whether the device appears to be rooted, has developer options enabled, or is running instrumentation tooling. These checks happen on your device, produce a simple yes/no result, and no data about them is transmitted to us or to any third party.

4. Information collected by the website

If you leave a comment on the website, we collect the information shown in the comment form, together with your IP address and browser user-agent string, to help with spam detection. An anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have an account with them; see the Gravatar privacy policy. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture may be publicly visible alongside it.

If you upload images to the website, please avoid uploading images containing embedded location data (EXIF GPS), because visitors can download and extract that data.

Our web host records standard server logs, including IP addresses and requested pages, for security and reliability purposes.

5. Cookies

The website uses cookies for basic functionality. If you leave a comment you may opt in to storing your name, email, and website in a cookie for convenience on future comments; these last one year. Visiting the login page sets a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies; it contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. Where advertising is served on the website, advertising cookies may also be set as described in Section 6.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. The mobile app does not use browser cookies, although advertisements displayed inside the app may use similar technologies.

6. Advertising and third-party partners

Advertising is how we keep PromptPin free to use. Advertisements are displayed inside the mobile app, served by Google AdMob together with mediation partners. Where advertising is served on our website, it is provided by Google AdSense.

These partners are independent controllers of the data they collect and process it under their own privacy policies:

Google may use the Advertising ID and related signals to serve personalised advertising where you have consented to it. You can opt out of personalised advertising by Google across all sites and apps at Google Ads Settings.

6.1 Consent in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the app uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to present a consent form before personalised advertising is enabled, in line with Google’s EU User Consent Policy and the GDPR. You may choose non-personalised advertising, and you can change your choice later from the privacy or settings option within the app. Non-personalised ads still require limited data — such as coarse location derived from IP address and basic device information — for frequency capping, reporting, and fraud prevention.

7. Your choices and controls

  • Reset your Advertising ID: Android Settings › Privacy › Ads › Reset advertising ID. This severs the link to any previous advertising profile.
  • Turn off ad personalisation: Android Settings › Privacy › Ads › Delete advertising ID (or “Opt out of Ads Personalisation” on older versions). You will still see ads, but they will not be personalised.
  • Withdraw or change advertising consent (EEA/UK/Switzerland): use the privacy or consent option inside the app.
  • Turn off notifications: Android Settings › Apps › PromptPin › Notifications.
  • Erase everything the app holds about you: uninstall the app, or clear its storage from Android Settings › Apps › PromptPin › Storage › Clear data. This deletes your local favourites and permanently discards the app-generated device identifier.

8. Children’s privacy

PromptPin is intended for a general audience aged 13 and over and is not directed to children. The app is not enrolled in the Google Play Families programme and is not designed for or targeted at children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, which is up to 16 in parts of the EEA and 18 under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

9. How long we keep data

  • Server request logs (IP address, device identifier, app version, user agent, endpoint): retained for up to 90 days for security and abuse prevention, then deleted or aggregated into anonymous statistics.
  • Website comments and their metadata: retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognised and approved automatically rather than held in a moderation queue.
  • Data held by advertising partners: governed by their own retention policies, linked in Section 6.
  • On-device data: kept until you clear the app’s storage or uninstall it.

10. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: legitimate interests for operating, securing, and improving the Services and preventing abuse and fraud; consent for personalised advertising and for push notifications, which you may withdraw at any time; and legal obligation where we are required to retain or disclose information by law.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, request its deletion, object to or restrict its processing, withdraw consent, receive a portable copy, and lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. Residents of California may additionally request disclosure of the categories of personal information collected and opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of it — note that we do not sell personal information. Residents of India have corresponding rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. Please note that because the app has no accounts, we often cannot connect a request to specific records without the app-generated device identifier; in most cases clearing the app’s data achieves the same result immediately.

12. International transfers

Our servers are located in India. The third-party services named in Section 6 are operated by companies based in the United States and may process data in countries outside your own. Those providers rely on their own safeguards for international transfers, including the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.

13. Security

We use HTTPS encryption for all traffic between the Services and our servers, restrict administrative access, and apply rate limiting and abuse detection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the limited nature of the data we hold.

14. Third-party links and AI tools

The Services link to third-party websites and AI tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini. Opening one of these leaves PromptPin, and anything you do there is governed by that provider’s own terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for their practices. In particular, prompt text you paste into a third-party AI tool is submitted to that provider, not to us.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will provide a more prominent notice in the app or on the website. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
